WHAT IS A STUDIO FLORIST?

Let's start with what a full service, traditional florist is first. This is likely what you envision when you think of "flower shop." A brick & mortar location that has set hours you can walk into to shop seasonal gift items, pick up a bouquet or arrangement, or place an order for delivery. It is a shop with a giant walk in cooler with a wide variety of florals and foliages. They will deliver to homes and businesses, do weddings, funerals, and typically have some plants on hand.

Now to get to what we do as a studio florist. We do not have place for you to walk in and shop. We do not carry gift items, don't have plants on hand, and order flowers "as needed". We also no longer deliver to homes or businesses for everyday deliveries, such as for birthdays, anniversary, get well, just because, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc.
We also do not do prom or homecoming pieces.

So now you think, "Ok, so what in the world is left?! What DO you do?"

That is the fun part! Here are some of the things we offer:

  • Weddings ($1500 minimum + tax)

  • Events ($250 minimum + tax)

  • Family Funeral Orders with 3 days notice delivered to churches and funeral homes in Boone County, IL.  ($250 minimum + tax)

  • Monthly Flower Subscriptions

  • Private & Ticketed/Public Events & Classes

  • Orders placed through Anderson Funeral Home's Website

  • Floral Preservation for our clients only (typically weddings and sympathy clients or recipients)

  • Flower Bar/Bouquet Bar ($300 minimum + tax and delivery)

  • Pop Up Shops and Markets

ABOUT THE OWNER

Sarah has experience in the floral industry that spans over the last two decades. While her formal education was 20 years ago, she continually keeps up on trends and new mechanics to be able to offer her clients stunning designs, all custom to their specifications.

She is an expert at finding the sweet spot between a client's floral dreams and what their budget will allow. You will see Sarah's passion and excitement come alive when discussing your special day as the vision starts coming together.

Common compliments she receives are that everything was so beautiful and exceeded expectations. The process was so simple and easy, and booking the flowers was one of the smoothest vendors they booked for their day. Clients and industry professionals genuinely connect with Sarah and other vendors and venues appreciate her work and work ethic.

Sarah's favorite aspects of floristry are weddings/events, funeral/sympathy, and Petals & Pastries classes. Flowers are present on our most significant days, so she is honored any time someone chooses Poplar Grove Floral to create special pieces, whether it is to celebrate love, celebrate life, or anything in between. Petals & Pastries events are so fun! Poplar Grove Floral partners with EK Cakery in Belvidere for several events during the year where participants learn basic design skills in two areas: decorating sugar cookies and floral design. Follow us and EK on Facebook and Instagram for announcements of our next class or gather some family and friends or coworkers to hold a private event!

If you are attempting to order on Anderson Funeral Home's website and it is not going through, please call us to order by phone: 815-800-1508.
